OTF: Morning Box Scores for 4/9/12

Davis
It was a light day on the Minor League front yesterday as both single-A clubs had the day off before starting new series’.  That left just two clubs, Huntsville and triple-A Nashville with games today.

Huntsville lost a close 6-5 game to the Jacksonville Suns and it’ll be a series deciding game five today between the two teams.  The Stars came roaring back from being down 3-0 as they took a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the 8th inning, but the Suns came back with two runs of their own in their half of the inning and they shut down the Stars in the final frame to pull out the one run victory.

Nashville provided the organizations only victory for the day and it was a hard fought 1-0 win over New Orleans.  Not only was the only win in the organization yesterday it was also the first win of the season for the Sounds as well.

Player of the Day: Sounds pitching staff – The Sounds staff of Brian Baker, Daniel Meadows, Amaury Rivas, Victor Garate, and Mike McClendon combined to pitch a shutout and only allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in the win.  No pitcher allowed more than one run including starter Brian Baker who went 5 innings and stuck out 4 while only giving up one hit and two walks.

- A close second was RF Kentrail Davis of Huntsville who went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in the 6-5 loss.
